ABOUT BELGAUM

Belgaum is a town and district by the same name, situated in the northwestern parts of Karnataka. It lies on the border of two states Maharashtra & Goa. Belgaum is one of the oldest towns in the state, lying at a distance of 502 km from Bangalore & 500 km from Mumbai. Belgaum also has a number of training centers of the Indian Armed Forces, and an Air Base of the Indian Air Force. This place enjoys rich cultural diversity stemming from its proximity to Maharashtra and Goa. The customs and traditions of Belgaum have been influenced by both the Kannada and Marathi cultures. Nestled in the foothills of Western Ghats, it enjoys a cool, salubrious climate and surrounded by natural beauty in the form of rivers, hills, and dense evergreen forest.

BIMS DOMAIN :

BIMS is ideally located in Belgaum, which is the cultural, commercial, industrial and educational capital of Northern Karnataka. Belgaum is surrounded by important cities and town like Kolhapur, on the northern side, Bijapur on the eastern side, Dharwad and Hubli on the southern side and Goa on the western side. Overnight journey from Mumbai - Pune, Bangalore and Hyderabad. Belgaum is well connected with the rest of the country by rail, road and air. BIMS is designed to serve the students, industries, business enterprises and business families of northern Karnataka and adjoining states of Maharashtra and Goa. Of course, BIMS  PG will also be open to all Indian and global students. Its corporate office is located in the Shaikh Campus, Nehru Nagar, Belgaum. A new campus (ABU Campus), mainly for M.B.A., with state-of-the art infrastructure and facilities is operational from the academic year 2004-05 at Bhutramanhatti adjoining the PG centre of Karnataka University Dharwad.

Belgaum Institute of Management Studies (MBA) was established in the year 2004 with the objective of providing quality education to deserving students. Powered by the dynamic leader of its Chairman and Managing Trustee, Mr. Abu Shaikh, the institute today has cherished ideals of economic development. We are an institute with a difference where equal emphasis is laid on imbibing in our students various managerial abilities, soft skills along with management competencies. The Institute is recognized by Govt. of Karnataka and Approved by AICTE New Delhi. It offers two years full time MBA Programme with Marketing, HR and Finance specializations, affiliated to Karnataka University Dharwad. Our sprawling campus is situated on NH-4. MBA COURSE:

The Course Structure:

The MBA course at BIMS (MBA) is designed to blend practice with theory and develop competencies skills and concepts needed to keep the students career on fast track. The curriculum incorporates foundation modules designed to equip student with analytical decision making skills.

Course Outline for MBA

There are 10 subjects and an additional open elective subject in both first and second semester, each subject has different credits. The third and fourth semester has four compulsory subjects for 12 and 14 credits respectively and the pupil has to select additional subjects in the form of specialization for 20 and 10 credits in third and fourth semesters respectively (number of subjects is based on the choice of credits made by the student).  1. Bachelor in Computer Applications [BCA]:

The BCA course aims at equipping students with hardcore IT skills supplemented by key managerial inputs that will enable to develop into global IT professionals. The course duration is three years spread across six semesters.

2. Bachelor of Commerce-Corporate Secretary B.com[CS]:

This innovative course, will    familiarize students with the nuts and bolts of Business Finance, Accountancy, Company law, Taxation, etc., and enable them to assist organizations in these areas. B.Com. (C.S.) graduates will be at an advantage in becoming Company Secretaries. In fact, they will perform various functions of Company Secretaries in thousands of business enterprises who cannot afford to employ Company Secretaries. The course is spread across 6 semesters and is of a duration of three years.

3. Bachelor  of Business Administration [BBA] :

BBA is a broad based programme which emphasises on understanding the dynamic Business Environment and Functional areas of Management. It is also a three years professional degree course introduced specially for the students aimed at imparting through knowledge of management.
