This Two-Year full time Postgraduate course leads to the award of the Master of Business Administration (MBA) of the Karnatak University, Dharwad.

MBA Semester Details

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

 Eligibility:

Graduates from any recognized University is eligible for admission to the two year full time MBA programme provided they have secured at least 50% aggregate marks in all 3/4 years degree as the case may be. (45% for students belonging to SC/ST and Cat-1)

Note: The candidates should produce all the certificates in original at the time of admission.

Procedure for Merit & Management Quota:

All students desirous of pursuing the 2 years full time MBA programme at BIMS (MBA) have to undergo written test, being conducted by VTU in every academic year.

Note:

  • The selection procedure is based on merit.
  • The selected candidates belonging to other than Karnatak University should produce the eligibility certificate from Karnatak University, Dharwad on payment of necessary fees after showing their original credentials to them.
  • They must also produce the migration certificate.

The Course Structure:

 The MBA course at BIMS (MBA) is designed to blend practice with theory and develop competencies skills and concepts needed to keep the students career on fast track. The curriculum incorporates foundation modules designed to equip student with analytical decision making skills.

Course Outline for MBA

The course offered by BIMS (MBA) is a two year fulltime Master of Business Administration (MBA) Programme of Karnatak Univeristy, Dharwad. The programme is split into 4 semesters and based on credit system (CBCS). Each semester consists of 16 weeks duration. It involves an average of 28 hours of instruction per week. The total work load, in lectures, class presentation and assignments is expected to be minimum 75 hours a week. Students who are unable to put in this amount of work may find it difficult to compete the course and hence may refrain from joining the course.

There are 10 subjects and an additional open elective subject in both first and second semester, each subject has different credits. The third and fourth semester has four compulsory subjects for 12 and 14 credits respectively and the pupil has to select additional subjects in the form of specialization for 20 and 10 credits in third and fourth semesters respectively (number of subjects is based on the choice of credits made by the student). Each subject is evaluated on the basis of:

  • Continuous Internal Assessment, of 50 marks and
  • Semester end examination of three hours duration for 100 marks.
